Sweet Tooth

Set in a fictional European town in 1780, this is a dark and magical fairytale film inspired by the classic story of Hansel & Gretel by the Brothers Grimm, but it offers a different perspective on the tale you may think you know...! Sweet Tooth is the untold story of the Wicked Witch and her infamous gingerbread house.

Director Biography - Shannon Ashlyn

Born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, Shannon toured Europe as a young actor before moving to Australia to study drama.

Since graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Shannon has worked as a performer across stage and screen, most notably in Packed to the Rafters, Puberty Blues, the ABC’s Devil’s Dust, the BBC’s Dripping In Chocolate and Channel Nine’s hit series Love Child. Shannon made her feature debut in Wolf Creek 2 and recently collaborated with Sweet Tooth cinematographer, Emma Paine, on the award-winning film Zelos.

Shannon completed her Masters of Directing at Australia’s national film school, the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in 2018. Sweet Tooth is her graduating project and first film.
