Q. When & where is the festival?
A. The 2018 Festival will be held in Spring/Summer in Berlin.  Details to come.

Q. What are the eligibility requirements for when my film was completed?
Films are to have been completed during the year 2016-2017.

Q. What’s the maximum film length?
A. While we value the endeavors of filmmakers who oversee feature length films, we can only screen films of a maximum of 30 minutes total running time.

Q. What is the fee to submit my film to BSFF?
A.  The standard submission fee is $8.00. Late deadline fee $12.00 - $20.00.

Q. When is the submission deadline?
A. General submissions are due by 01/01/2017. Late submissions must be received by 31/01/2018. If you run into any problems please contact us.

Q. Can I submit more than one film?
A. Yes, each entry needs to be submitted individually.

Q. I work or am involved with a University/College/School/Film Society and need to submit a large batch of films, what do I do?
A. Please email us at info@berlinstudentfilmfestival.com, we'd love to help you out.

Q. I am now graduated/no longer a student, can I still submit my old student films?
A. Yes! As long as the film was made whilst you were a student we’d love to see it.  Keep in mind the completion date requirements for each deadline date.

Q. When will I find out if my film is selected for the BSFF 2017 official screening?
A. Films that have been selected as: accepted, semifinalist and finalist to BSFF 2017 will be notified by a message via FilmFreeway between February and March 2017.

Q. When will winners be named?
A. Winning films will be announced during the festival in Spring/Summer 2018. Details to come.

Q. Who are the judges?

Q. What is the preferred way to submit a film?  
A.  We recommend uploading your video directly to FilmFreeway. FilmFreeway accepts all major video formats in full quality HD up to 10 GB. They transcode videos for playback compatibility and performance and recommend that you use settings close to their output settings:
Maximum video bitrate: 2200 Kbps, H.264, mp4
Audio: 128 Kbps, AAC, 2 channel stereo
Aspect ratio preserved; maximum video height of 720 pixels
